Jaguar F-Type: amazing car that never happened
by JonQ on Jan.08, 2010, under News
New year, new concepts, as the Detroit Motor Show is about to kick 2010 straight into car heaven. The home of the American car industry may be a shadow of its former self, but every designer still rocks up here with their game face on.
Barely believable but 10 years ago, Detroit played proud host to the global unveil of the Jaguar F-Type Concept. It was both extraordinary and transformative. And yet it didn’t go anywhere. Why do car makers go to all that trouble of giving car fans full-on trouser tents, only to put the car we’d sell a kidney for in the bin?
I thought of another nine similarly stunning cars that never happened for a recent feature for MSN Cars. Like the TVR Speed 12 for example. It was a masterclass in what you can do with fibreglass, a shed in Blackpool and a bloke with ambition and talent. And then there’s the Honda NSX, the SEAT Tango…jees, think I need to create some kind of petition.
